Jacqui Adams wins 2010 REINSW Novice Auctioneers Competition

The Real Estate Institute of NSW (REINSW) held the Riverina Division of the Novice Auctioneers Competition in Wagga Wagga last Thursday evening.

Three up-and-coming auctioneers battled it out on stage to win a place in the prestigious REINSW Novice Auctioneers Competition State Final in Sydney in November.

Jacqui Adams from Fitzpatricks Real Estate took out the prize of Novice Auctioneer winner in the Riverina Division.

Jacqui was thrilled when her name was announced as the winner, “I think I was in shock when my name was announced,” Jacqui said. “The hard work and nerves paid off; I had a lot of fun and I’m looking forward to conducting more auctions,” Jacqui went on to say.

Jacqui will continue her training to work towards the state titles in November. “The state titles seem a little daunting right now, but I am looking forward to the challenge, I had a ball last night and this is definately an area I would like to pursue in the future,” Jacqui said.

Each Novice Auctioneer was required to auction off one item at this charity auction event. The three novice auctioneers helped to raise $860 for Mission Australia’s Wagga Youth Connections. Wagga Youth Connections is a local organisation supporting young people and their families by providing crisis accommodation, counseling, assistance with education and employment, housing assistance, information and advice, and adolescent focused group programs.

Heather Manning, Service Manager from Wagga Youth Connections was on hand to support this event and was extremely humbled by the generosity of the people there on the night in helping to raise much needed funds for Wagga Youth Connections.

The winner was determined by the entrant’s ability to present the auction item with confidence and poise, and how well they describe the item and control the bidding.

Organiser Andrew McLeod, from Fitzpatricks Real Estate said “the competition is a fantastic opportunity for not just budding auctioneers to learn a new skill and step out of their comfort zone”.
