Employees pushed to their limits at Executive Stretch

Four Fitzpatricks Real Estate staff members together with 50 other business personnel enjoyed a memorable and action packed weekend at the Blamey Barracks Kapooka for Exercise Executive Stretch (EES).

The purpose of the weekend was to provide employers and prospective employers of members of the Defence Force Reserve with an introduction to the types of activities Reserve personnel undertake. This allows employers to gain an insight into the skills Reserve members possess, which may benefit their organisation.

EES aims to provide members of the business community with first-hand experience of the Australian Defence Force training philosophy and of the training methods used by the Defence Force. Reserve training is about personal development, organisation, teamwork, confidence and commitment; strengths which are valued by employers.

Exercises conducted throughout the weekend included:

  • high wire confidence course
  • weapons firing in the weapons training simulator
  • abseiling
  • rock climbing
  • camouflage and concealment exercises
  • obstacles
  • living on rations

  • An enjoyable and stimulating weekend was had by all, with some tired and exhausted soldiers by the end. The course is highly recommended to all management and employees. It provides you with a better understanding and an insight into the training that reservists undertake and the invaluable skills they gain.
