Government Rebates

The NSW and Federal Government are offering a number of attractive rebates for new and existing home owners.

Ceiling Insulation

As part of the Federal Governments economic stimulus package and to improve the energy efficiency of Australian homes, the NSW Government will pay up to $1,600 for existing houses that do not currently have insulation to be insulated with ceiling insulation. Landlords can also benefit from a rebate of up to $1,000 to install insulation in their rental properties. These rebates are in place now until the end of 30 June 2011.

Eigibility
  • must be an owner occupier, or landlord of the property
  • the house must be more than 12 months old (new houses do not qualify)
  • don’t currently have ceiling insulation, or your current ceiling insulation is deemed insufficient (an R-value below 0.5)
  • must be an Australian citizen, over the age of 18 years.
  • To find a registered installer in your area simply call 1800 808 571 or visit the Australian Government’s Insulation Installers Search website.

    Solar Hot Water Rebate

The Australian Government is providing a rebate between $300 and $1,600 to help eligible home owners and landlords replace their electric storage hot water systems with solar or heat pump hot water systems.

    Eligibility

    Stamp Duty

First home buyers are exempt from paying stamp duty on purchases up to $500,000.

People buying newly constructed homes worth under $600,000 who are not first home owners will pay 50 per cent less stamp duty, from July 1 until the end of 2009.

It is recommended that you conduct your own research before acting upon these rebates. Rebates vary from state to state.
