First Home Owner Boost ends June 30, 2009

First home buyers in NSW who qualify for the First Home Owner Boost should take advantage of the Government’s support and enter into contract before the 30th of June 2009 to avoid disappointment.


To be eligible for the First Home Owners Grant you must:

  • be at least 18 years of age
  • be an Australian citizen or permanent resident
  • not have previously received the First Home Owners Grant, or have a spouse (or de facto) who has previously received the Grant
  • not have previously owned a home, or have a spouse (or de facto) who has previously owned a home in Australia and
  • live in the home for a continuous period of at least 6 months, commencing within 12 months after completion or settlement.

  • If you are purchasing an existing house you may be eligible for a $14,000 boost. For first home buyers who construct or purchase a new home you could be eligible for up to $24,000; with a $7,000 First Home Owner Grant, $14,000 First Home Owner Boost and the $3,000 New Home Buyers Supplement. The First Home Owner Boost ($14,000) is due to expire on the 30th of June 2009 and the New Home Buyers Supplement ($3,000) is due to expire on the 10th November 2009.

    To take advantage of these support packages you must enter into a contract between 14 October 2008 and 30 June 2009.
